SPRING 2010
Dear Members and Friends;
Spring has sprung with a special Spring (Vernal) Equinox sacred ceremony. This was a first for us, and I must say that it was very special. We thank Tony McGettigan for the opening ceremony. We planted our seeds with intentions in sacred ceremony, and held prayer for our world and mother earth. Now we get to see our seeds grow, and they are growing too. Spring Cleanup Day was a great success. We thank everyone who assisted in this project. Gardens in the backyard were replanted, and others spruced up. Please take time to walk around and view the gardens that are in bloom. It is especially beautiful this time of year. The blossoms blooming on our trees is a promise of the fruits to come - peaches, oranges and avocados too. Springtime is also the promise of renewal in our lives; we clear out the old and make way for the greater good to come.
Sunday April 25, Pot luck and our next meeting to discuss the ideas for fund raising events from our brain storming in February. Pot Luck will begin shortly after Sunday Service about 12:30pm. This is for both members and friends of DSCC. The focus of this session is to identify fund raising events that have support with a volunteer/committee that will investigate the feasibility and develop a plan. These reports will then be presented to the Board of Directors for further planning. We thank you for your participation.
New classes are scheduled for this Spring and Summer. The Meditation Course begins May 5, Wed. at 7pm. A new book study with the works "The Fifth Agreement" by Don Miguel Ruiz will begin June 23, Wed. 7pm. Contact Rev. Christine for registration.
Silent Movie Night returns with organist Gene Turner on May 5, Wed. at 7pm, and June 2, Wed. at 7pm; entrance Sr. & children $5, all others $6. The Summer Solstice Celebration fund raiser is scheduled for June 19, Saturday at 7pm. Sophia will be sharing her vocal talents with us. Come and join in the great energy created by all participants. Our Annual Summer BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, July 3rd at 11am-3pm. Be sure and mark the above dates on your calendar.
For sometime DSCC’s monthly income has been running short to meet expenses. Although, we have continued to reduce expenses, we are having to go into our reserve just to meet our monthly obligations. This can only go on for so long. At this time, we are reaching out requesting financial support. Even when you aren’t able to attend Sunday Service, think of DSCC with a donation. No matter what size, it will grow with all the others. Every donation counts! We thank you, and greatly appreciate all the love and support that is given for the ongoing ministry.
We are reminded of the principle "as you give you shall receive 10 fold a 100 fold or more." God has no limit in giving. Let us affirm together that "DSCC is a Divine Idea in the mind of God that is unfolding and reaching out, and is a blessing to our community and the world." Thank you God!
