Spring 2013 Newsletter
Dear Friends of CIS;
Spring is here in all its glory! Our mother earth is unfolding her rebirth in an array of color with blossoms and new leaves on trees, and tulips, daffodils and lilies are all dancing in the sunshine. Just imagine that in the gentle breeze every movement of a flower or tree is their own special dance of gratitude. As the sun rises the birds are singing their gratitude for a new day, and again at dusk for all that they received. We too have so much to be thankful about, and to feel in the depths of our soul a true gratitude for renewed life, abundant life, a joyous life that is eternal. Remember the simple words “Thank you!” is prayer.
We had a fantastic Name Ceremony & Celebration on March 24th. The Serendipity Choir sang for us throughout the ceremony. Rev. Christine began the ceremony with recognition of Rev. Ed Jennens, our founding minister, and the CIS Spiritual Team lit a andle for each past minister that served here. This was followed by a brief history. We had a moment in silence to send our love and gratitude to all the groups and people that have come here, and to all those that are no longer here. Next we followed with a rededication, and closed the service in a large circle with everyone giving their own blessing to our new beginning as the Community of Infinite Spirit.
The celebration began right after the service with music by Robert Perala and Tim Mauro singing and playing guitars while the guests ate a delicious assortment of food. People had a great time mingling, and getting to know the other groups that meet here on a regular basis. This truly was a very special day in the history of our church.
We applaud all the people working in the background to make this a wonderful celebration. Special thanks to the committees: Food & Decorations chair Rev. Hilde with Mona Angel Wells, Phyllis Howell, Sheree Garrett; Setup and Cleanup chair Mark Stuefloten with Gene Turner, Eric Meece.
Upcoming Events: May 26, a Pot Luck and Membership meeting to follow the Sunday Service. The Summer Solstice Celebration is set for Jun 21, Friday 8-10pm. The International New Thought Alliance 98thAnnual World Congress is being held July 9-13, 2013, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Divine Science Classes are available for your personal unfoldment, and Practitioner, Teacher, or Ministerial training in classroom environment or by correspondence. My heart is open to receive all the bountiful blessings that are pouring my way. Thank you Infinite Spirit for all that I have received and for that which is yet to come. So it is. Amen!
Winter 2013 Newsletter
Dear Spiritual Community;
Happy New Year! Besides the new calendar year we are also celebrating the new grand cycle of time. New beginnings and change represents this period of time, and in the grand scheme of things a greater spirituality is unfolding worldwide. Winter is the season of deep inward strengthening of the soul in preparation of rebirth. It offers the opportunity to put in new patterns that support our spirituality, such as, daily study, meditation, contemplation, prayer and gratitude. Our teachings of Divine Science are rich in support for spiritual transformation.
Its Official we have a new name which is Community of Infinite Spirit. The membership voted in the name at the annual membership meeting on November 11, 2012. It will take several months to get everything in place with the new name. During this time you will see both names referenced. In November we filed the amendment to the Articles of Incorporation with the state of California – it was certified December 8, 2012, at which time a certified copy was sent to the Federal Government for our 501(c3). We also opened a new bank account with the new name for an easy transition. At this time of writing this letter, you may begin to use the new name on your checks to us. We have a new email account, and it is infinitespirit@comcast.net.
A new sign for the new name is needed. Temporarily a banner is hanging on the current sign, which references our prior name for those who may not know of our name change. A new website and Facebook will need to be designed; they currently reference the new name. You will be notified as these are developed.
Christening Celebration is set for Sunday March 24, 2013, 11-3pm. There will be a ceremony of blessings, music and lots of good food. Please bring finger food to share. We are asking for volunteers to be on a planning committee for this special occasion; please contact Rev. Christine.
Upcoming Events: See us at the Mid-Winter Psychic & Craft Faire being held at our location on February 23, 2013, 10am-5pm (presented by Litha Faire). Divine Science classes in the offering: Fundamentals of Divine Science and Spiritual Psychology. Rev. Christine is looking at forming a new class on the Mystical Tarot based on the Tree of Life.
Special Gratitude to Ed Simon and Trikaya, and to our Spiritual Team in giving their support for our Winter Solstice/End of Mayan Grand Cycle Ceremony. It was so beautiful and sacred. Each person as they entered the labyrinth was given a tea light (battery) representing the light within “Ye are the Light of the World.” As they came out they received a special blessing of oils and gold coins, and then prayerfully lit a candle. At the end we individually shared a blessing to the world.
