Winter 2012 NewsletterJan 19, 2012 by Rev. Christine Winter 2012 Dear Friends;
Happy New Year 2012! Now that the holidays are over, winter seems to be saying to us “Be still and know that I am God.” The trees are bare, the flowers are gone, animals snuggled in for the winter, the nights are long, and it is all seemingly very quiet. Winter is when the earth and all its life gather new strength, new energy to spring forth into renewed life. Yet, each year the trees and plants grow fuller and taller, bringing forth greater abundance of beauty and fruit. This is how it is for when we meditate, and in the silence “Be still and know that I am God.” We are given new vitality, new spiritual understanding, and renewed life to meet our day. We are more focused to meet what comes before us to handle, and everything is just more harmonious. We also have an inner glow of joy that says, “Life is good!” Join us for meditation every Wednesday at 6-7pm.
Your New Board! First we give thanks to our outgoing Board member Richard Long for serving as Secretary 2010-11. Say hello to Rich Rios as Secretary, Mark Stuefloten as Treasurer, and Rev. Hilde as Vice-President. Gene Turner is once again our President.
New eight week Sunday series carrying us through March. Being 2012, it deemed an appropriate time to do a series on the Book of Revelation. This symbolic and mysterious book has confounded seekers since it had been part of our Bible. Many people are feared by its symbols and visions of woe popularly known as the “End Times.” Yet hidden in the symbols is a grand message for us all. This series will begin on February 5, with an introduction. Each week Rev. Christine will share metaphysical interpretations, along with her knowledge and insights of 20 plus years of teaching metaphysical Bible. Following services at 12:30-1pm (following social and refreshments) we will have an open discussion.
Celestine Prophecy the Movie will be shown following the Sunday Service on Feb. 5, at 1pm. There will be an open discussion following this showing. DSCC showed this movie back in 2006 with a long awaited great enthusiasm. This is a wonderful story of a man’s spiritual journey with many exciting adventures. Donations welcome.
Spring Equinox Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, at 7pm. We are planning a very special evening with Sufi dance and music by local artist Sophia. There will be a sacred ceremony for our blessings and prayers. In many religious traditions this is considered a new year. Spring bringing forth new buds on trees and flowers unfolding, and wildlife giving birth. Donations welcome.
A Big Thank You to all of you who responded to the call for year-end donations. Your monetary gifts helped immensely in covering our unexpected expenses. This spiritual organization runs 100% on donations. We thank you for being a channel for God’s good to flow. We gratefully appreciate every gift received, and knowing God as our true source, we also say - Thank you God!

The Harvest of Goodness! As we see the leaves beginning to turn, the squirrels scurrying up and down the trees and across the yard, the coolness in the air, we are reminded that Fall is here. Another new beginning. Its interesting to note that the Spring and Fall equinoxes begin a new year with some religions celebrating one or the other. During these periods, I can sense the energy of a new beginning in my life, and just prior an urgency to bring closure to some things to make way for the new. This summer I had been working on a project for the Divine Science Federation Int’l (DSFI) to redesign their website. It was completed on 9/21/2011, and gone live 9/23/2011. Please visit the new website at www.DivineScienceFederation.org.
Now for the New! We have a newly trained Practitioner/Teacher, Mark Stuefloten. Please congratulate Mark. This has been a long journey for Mark to complete the required course work.
Fall classes have begun with Fundamentals of Divine Science. Spiritual Psychology is planned to begin in November (pre-requisite Fundamentals). If you haven’t notice, we have a presence on Facebook. Sheree Garrett is publishing our events, services and classes weekly on Facebook. In addition, Sheree is sending out weekly emails announcing our activities and Sunday Service. And, Rev. Pat is announcing these activities weekly on Craig’s List.
Upcoming Dates: Membership meeting and Potluck is scheduled for Nov. 13, 2011 following the Sunday Service. The Annual Holiday Party is set for Dec. 11, Sunday following the Service, 12:30-3:30pm. October 23, 1pm we’re showing another DVD of interest, the 2010 History Station series of Ancient Aliens pt 2. Discussion will follow. Love Donation.
Thank You for sharing with me my 20 year celebration as Sr. Minister here at DSCC. There was live music, good food, and tributes that I’ll savor for a very long time. The cards and gifts were a nice touch too, and so very much appreciated. Our church was blessed with sizeable gifts from DSFI, Church of the Holy Spirit, and United Divine Science Ministerial School.
A Big Thank You to all our volunteers who gave a helping hand at our food, silent auction, and information booths we had at the Holistic Arts Fair, Sept. 24 & 25. It was a wonderful success in raising funds and raising awareness. The Spiritual Team gave a presentation on Sunday about connecting to God, based on Rev. Christine’s chapter in the book Tapping into God - copies are available in the bookstore for $20. A special acknowledgment to Eric Meece who has been putting on the Holistic Arts Fair for a number of years now at our location. This is an excellent opportunity for exposure, and make some money too.

SUMMER 2011
Dear Friends;
Summertime and the living is easy! We are reminded that the Lord rested on the 7th day. Summer is the season to reap our good. Spring brings the early colorful flowers and blossoms, while summer brings the fruits - the sweetest of foods - the Gifts of Mother Earth. Spiritually summer is the richness of life bearing the fruits of our inner work. In our spiritual journey this is the season of exploration and adventure in living all that we have learned. Then year after year we return to this season, yet each time we are at a different place in our spiritual life. Like a spiral we continue to rise up and go deeper into knowing our true divine Self.
Lots to Celebrate! The parking lot is so beautiful with its new surface and stripes. We thank all those who donated money towards this worthy project. We give our appreciation to all those who volunteered at our fund raisers to help make this happen. Although we completed the project, we now must replenish our funds. Our next big fund raiser is a Silent Auction and Refreshment Booth at the Holistic Arts Fair scheduled here for Sept. 24-25. This is a CALL for volunteers.
More... Rev. Christine is one of 28 contributing authors in the just released book Tapping into God; Experiencing the Spiritual Spectrum with the chapter Connection to God According to the Divine Science Perspective. Come join us at the book signing event on Sunday July 31, 2011, 1-2:30pm at the Center for Spiritual Living (CSL), 1195 Clark St., San Jose, CA 95125. Books are available at the book signing event, and also at our own book store for $20 including tax.
Even More... Can you believe? Its been twenty years that Rev. Christine has been serving as the Senior Minister. It was August 1991 when she was appointed as the Sr. Minister of the Church (served 1990/91 as Co-Minister,1986/90 as Assistant Minister, and Practitioner/Teacher 1984).
We are planning a celebration party for August 28, Sunday 1-3pm. Everyone is invited. Come share your appreciation for the ministry and vision that Rev. Christine unfolded. Beyond the traditional Sunday Service she envisioned these grounds filled with people every day of the week. A center that serves the many paths of spirituality, and most importantly continuing the teachings of Divine Science.
Sunday Afternoon DVD: August 14, 1pm we’re showing another DVD of interest, the 2010 History Station series of Ancient Aliens pt 1. Discussion will follow. Love Donation.
The DSFI Book Club Study Group: Studies in Divine Science by Mrs. C.L. Baum has been a great book with lots of lively discussion. We wind this up July 27. We will be sure to let you know the next book the DSFI Book Club chooses. If you haven’t read this book, I most certainly recommend it. Every chapter, although short, is packed full of practical wisdom. Available in our bookstore.

Christine SPRING 2011 Dear Members and Friends; Spring has sprung! The rains have lifted, the birds are singing, and the gardens are full of new color and life - truly a beautiful demonstration of God=s eternal life. Even while vegetation may appear dead, the winter of life, is a very productive time. A deep inner activity of renewing energy is busy at work, and when the time is right to suddenly spring forth into the fullness and beauty of life. It always amazes me how there is no sign of new life, and then the next day there it is hundreds of buds on limbs of trees, and green stems poking out of the ground. I look again and flowers everywhere seemingly overnight. Very inspiring to know that even in the darkest point of life, that there is always a promise in the light of a new morning. We are never quite the same as before, for each year brings its own new richness to life. Happy Easter and to your Resurrection! We were honored this Spring to have our Center selected as one of 40 US sites for the 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace APeace Pole.@ On April 9, there was a planting of the APeace Pole@ and dedication ceremony. The APeace Pole@ has engraved a word on each side of it; Peace, Harmony, Oneness and Love. On the top is a crystal capped over with copper. A plaque is located at the foot of the pole which reads A13 Moon Walk 4 Peace, 10/10/10-11/11/11, US Peace Trail@ It is in the garden entering the courtyard from the parking lot. Can=t be missed whether coming or going. It is a great reminder as we enter this sacred place, and as we leave it to be a living example of these words as if engraved into our own hearts. 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace began in Atlanta City, Georgia on 10/10/10 and will continue around the country until 11/11/11 when they return to Atlanta City. This past December they were given the Los Angelos Heros= Award presented by Dr. Beckwith. Two Fund Raisers to Restore our Parking Lot ($3300): April 30, we=re having a Spring Yard Sale with space for vendors to sell their items as well as our own tables (donations needed). We are also selling muffins coffee, hot dogs and soda. The following weekend, May 7, we=re holding a raffle at the Spring Forward Psychic & Wellness Fair being held here. Two great prizes: 1st prize valued at $1125, a beautiful diamond heart in tri-gold necklace; 2nd prize valued at $200, a new spring purse by Whiting & Davis. Buy your tickets today: $1 each, 6 for $5, 13 for $10. We=re also selling food at the fair, and having information available. Volunteers are needed at both events. Please contact Rev. Christine 408-293-3838. Cash donations are gratefully accepted. Sunday Afternoon DVD: May 1st at 1pm, we=re showing 2012 Mayan Prophecy and the Shift of the Ages. This enigmatic film unveils the other side to the 2012 enigma: The Underlying Mystery of 2012; The True Nature of Time; Current, Evolution of the Human Mind. Discussion. Love Donation. Upcoming DSFI Book Club Study Group: 7pm Wednesday evenings beginning June 8 - July 27, we will be studying together the newly republished classic by Mrs. C.L. Baum Studies in Divine Science. Forward written in 1909 by Nona L. Brooks. Currently available in our book store.
